The stats are in!
This has been a record breaking year for Wales Theatre Awards.
The sensational show at The Riverfront Theatre, Newport was attended by nearly 400 guests from 48 arts organisations, representing 36 shortlisted arts companies comprising a staggering 47 shortlisted shows.
There were nearly 600 individual nominations for work from 73 companies comprising 130 shows and more than 222 individual artists.
The shortlists and winners are decided by eleven of Wales’ leading reviewers whose expertise encompasses a broad range of performance genres in Wales and beyond, writing for a broad range of publications and publications at local, Wales and UK levels.
This year the judges considered the nominations from more than 45 reviewers, working in Welsh and in English and in print and digital, from commercial to community platforms, who have attended live performances in opera, theatre and dance created and performed in Wales. Each nomination also includes a written reason for the nomination.
